LLP STORY

At 23 years old, having played collegiate sports, obtained two college degrees, and held three internships with Division 1 Strength and Conditioning Programs, among other experiences training elite level athletes, I was still lost in my career trajectory.

The vision remained the same: I want to train the best athletes in the world. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, I was furloughed from my training job. Back against the wall, I chose to take action and started training groups of young athletes outdoors at parks throughout Bucks and Montgomery County, Philadelphia, and South Jersey during the pandemic. This led to the creation of LAWSON LIFESTYLE AND PERFORMANCE in the summer of 2020.

Having a solid foundation of training knowledge, this experience taught me the hustle of how to build and retain clientele as an individual entity. I proved to myself I have what it takes to chase my dreams and one day own my own business training world-class athletes.

I have always relentlessly studied training. I added business to that repertoire and have held my foot on the gas since. I had the courage to try my hand as an independent contractor at another facility. Upon building my clientele and having success there, I eventually found my home in Colmar, PA, with Kings Corner Boxing in January of 2023. I’ve been building my Sports Performance Training Business with youth, high school, and collegiate athletes ever since.

The next steps are to incorporate Tactical Performance Training for military, law enforcement, and fire fighters. I will be taking the TSAC in 2025. Then the goal is to further scale and own a facility.

The LAWSON LIFESTYLE & PERFORMANCE vision is to:

  1. Serve the scholastic athletes in the community by maximizing their athleticism and performance in their respective sports, but most importantly, develop them into young men/women of the future.
  2. Support the tactical professionals who serve our communities in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, Philadelphia, and the Tri-State Area by improving personal fitness, mission performance, overall health and wellness, and injury prevention.
  3. Continue to build a name and brand to attract the most elite collegiate, professional, and olympic athletes and help them become the best in the world.

ABOUT MIKE

Growing up, I always had a passion for sports, had athleticism, but I was weak and soft and out of shape. Middle and High School, I addressed this and audited my habits, specifically my nutrition, and fitness, and was able to transform my physique and athleticism. I have developed a love for fitness ever since, specifically how improving fitness relates to performance, as I was fascinated from my results, from training.

I graduated Pennridge High School in 2013, where I played water polo and swam. I went on to play NCAA water polo at Mercyhurst University, and achieved my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2017. Early on in college, I knew I wanted to work with the most elite athletes in the world one day. My first taste of strength and conditioning team training was at Lehigh University in 2016, which validated my pursuit of my passion for performance and studying Exercise Science.

To train the best athletes in the world, I knew I needed more experience. I wanted to start as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach. I went to graduate school at University of Georgia, where I achieved my Masters of Science in Kinesiology and Strength and Conditioning and my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Certification in late 2018. I had the opportunity to intern with Olympic Sports and Football Strength & Conditioning Staffs, which lead me to my first paid position as a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach at Rutgers University early 2019. By age 23, I had worked with thousands of Division One athletes and up to one hundred Professional and Olympic athletes, alongside some of the top Strength and Conditioning Coaches in the field.

Despite early success and enjoying my role as a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach, I decided to apply for an Officer position with the United States Navy. Unfortunately, the application process was prolonged, and I was stuck waiting and training at a corporate box gym. I developed the courage to leave and try my hand at being independent as I waited. The journey began from training young athletes at different gyms/ parks during Covid-19 pandemic, to eventually building clientele as an independent contractor at different gyms. I eventually developed enough clientele to rent space and start my own business training athletes inn January 2023, joining Maliq Harris of Kings Corner Boxing.

My next ambition is to train Tactical Professionals and develop programs to enhance their personal fitness, mission performance, health and wellness, and injury prevention. The next step after that is to establish my own Sports and Tactical Performance Training Center, serving the youth and service members in the community, as well as world class elite professional sport and tactical athletes. Beyond the gym and my entrepreneurial pursuits, I enjoy all things nature and outdoors, reading, chess, fashion, and space!
